Honda Hrv Sport 2023 Black

Honda Hrv Sport 2023 Black – The Honda HR-V first debuted in 2016 as a smaller, cheaper alternative to the hugely popular CR-V and one of the first semi-compact crossovers on the market. Anyone who walks in knows that the small size is much wider than it suggests.

Honda has made several updates to the HR-V over the years; little things but enough to keep you updated. The second generation, previously expected to arrive in 2022, now arrives at dealerships in Canada as a 2023 model.

How well? We toured a unit in the Montreal metropolitan area and you can find our first impressions below.

After being built on the same platform as the Late Fit, the new 2023 Honda HR-V uses the automaker’s advanced global architecture, combining the best of the CR-V platform with the latest Civic platform. It also shares its powerplant with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that replaces the old 1.8-liter mill. The output is rated at 158 hp along with 138 lb-ft. torque, representing an increase of 17 hp and 11 lb-ft, respectively. Nothing bad.

Of course, there is no longer a manual transmission to choose from, the only option being a continuously variable transmission. This is not the best either. In fact, we find it quite frustrating at times. It’s fine if you’re not in a hurry, but don’t think of the new HR-V as a little bundle of dynamite.

The 2.0-liter engine runs efficiently, though you won’t be surprised. Honda claims a combined rating of 8.3L/100km in the FWD configuration and 8.7L/100km in the AWD configuration. We drove the HR-V over 150km mostly around town and it averaged 9.2L/100km return.

Just to clarify, there are no other engines on the menu. A hybrid variant would be nice, as with the equally new 2023 CR-V, but not this one. Too much.

The original HR-V stood out with an incredibly spacious interior, and the new one is no different. In the second row there is enough space for the head and legs. Honda, on the other hand, made an interesting move by removing the Magic Seat, which provides versatility and further differentiates the HR-V from the competition. The boot remains one of the largest in the segment, with up to 691 liters of cargo space.

Up front, you’ll feel like you’re in familiar territory if you’ve ridden the newest Civic before. HVAC controls are the same, as is the metal honeycomb mesh accent that stretches from door to door and conceals the vents. A 7-inch or 9-inch (depending on floor level) touchscreen stands out and adds some color to the normally dark environment.

There is no such thing as a cheap Honda anymore. The 2023 HR-V has a base MSRP of $28,730, an increase of about $2,500 over the previous model. Add $2,210 for an all-wheel drive model. The premium Sport and EX-L NAVI start at $33,930 and $37,130, respectively. That’s a lot of money for an SUV this size, especially with only 158 horsepower under the hood.

The HR-V has always been a sensible if not an exciting buy in the segment. A change was needed and customers will appreciate the sharp new exterior, stronger engine and more modern technology. We also expect the HR-V to maintain its strong reputation for reliability.
