Rolling through town, it’s nice to hear and feel Honda’s fourth-generation dual-motor hybrid system whispering with satisfying excitement. Depending on the amount of load—such as the ability to easily pull out or leave in a hurry—the CR-V will retain all-electric drive or switch its gas engine to assist.
This internal combustion component delivers up to 145 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque per factor, and the transition from electric-only drive to gas-burning mode is smooth. Also, if you’re like me where you quickly get annoyed by drivers who slam on the brakes too much and want to practice what you preach, B is where it’s at.
It’s also a solid preview of the EV driving experience that consumers see parked in their driveways, and that’s Honda’s intent behind the CR-V hybrid. Show them the benefits of an electric vehicle, generate interest, and then make an affordable electric vehicle available for purchase when the time comes.
